ENROLLMENT STEPS

Thank you for deciding to enroll in an MWS Course.
Please take a moment to review our MWS Essential Eligibility Criteria.

To secure your spot in the MWS course of your choice, you must first complete all steps of the application process as outlined below. Financial assistance is available for Montana residents only*. For more information, go to our Financial Aid page.

*Thanks to targeted funding from Sitka and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, there are scholarship dollars available to all students enrolled in Backpacking Skills for the Aspiring Hunter. These funds remain dependent on financial need.

1. APPLY

Fill out and submit the 2025 MWS Online Application. Or download the complete application here. Return via email, or print and send to the address below.

  • Click the apply button below to be redirected to our application page where you will create an account in our enrollment portal (Powered by Rediker) 

  • Once you create an account you will be able to access and complete your application and fill out required waivers and medical forms. 

  • You can log into your account/portal any time to check your enrollment checklist and complete additional steps. (These steps include financial aid, waivers, medical forms, and a reference)

2. PAY

Pay the Application Fee: Send a check for $50 made to the “Montana Wilderness School” to the address listed below OR  pay with Venmo @mws_staywild OR pay with a credit card here. Please note, your application fee goes toward your final tuition amount, but the fee is nonrefundable.

3. SIGN

Once you have created an account and filled out an application you will be given access to our online waiver packet. Please fill out all required forms through your portal.

If you are applying on paper or by mail please download and complete the 2025 MWS Admissions Policies, Acknowledgement of Risk form, Consent to Treat, and the Medical form. Return signed forms by email, or to the address below. Additionally, please include a photocopy or scan of your medical insurance card.
